50 Great Christmas Songs
57At the time of this writing, Thanksgiving is just four days away. Nearly all the leaves have fallen to the ground and it looks like winter is here. The problem is, it's not cold outside. Currently in East Tennessee, it's 65 degrees outside. Now I'm not complaining, I prefer warm weather, but I feel like I need to be warming up to the Christmas spirit more than I am and that's going to require cold weather.
After much deliberation about my conundrum, I hypothesized that the only way to really get into the Christmas mood was to listen to some holiday music. My iTunes library consisted of exactly three Christmas themed songs...that wasn't going to help. So I set out this afternoon to find some great music to get me going. I've come up with over 50 tracks, both old and relatively new, that surely did help. Those songs are located in the chart below.
My top three favorite songs (ironically, the only three I originally had in my iTunes library) are:
- Grandma Got Ran Over By A Reindeer by Elmo & Patsy
- I Won't Be Home For Christmas by Blink-182
- Percy, the Puny Poinsettia by Elmo & Patsy
As you can see, they're not exactly the most traditional holiday choices. If you are looking for a good, traditional Christmas album, I'd suggest pretty much anything from Mannheim Steamroller. I'm no where near being an orchestra-type music fan, but I do enjoy M.S.'s Christmas music.
